Canadian photo wins in AAA pet-travel contest

Heathrow, Florida – An Ontario dog photographed while on vacation in British Columbia has been named a winner of the third annual pet-travel photo contest held by the American Automobile Association (AAA). Willow, a Nova Scotia Duck Toller Retriever owned by Kim Meeker, was photographed in a kayak. Along with Linus, a mixed-breed from Bloomington, Indiana, Willow will be the “cover dog” of the next edition of “Traveling With Your Pet: The AAA PetBook”, coming in May.

“Millions of Americans travel with their pets every year, sharing the fun of car trips and exploring the great outdoors with their furry family members,” says Bill Wood, Executive Editor of AAA Publishing. “AAA developed the PetBook guide to improve the travel experience of the roughly 15 per cent of traveling adults who take trips with their pets.”

The PetBook lists more than 13,000 AAA-inspected pet-friendly hotels and campgrounds, plus animal hospitals, attractions, dog parks, pet-accessible federal lands, and information on how to travel and pack for a pet.

The winners receive US$100, five copies of the book, and a year’s supply of Milk-Bone dog snacks. To see photos of the winners and runners-up, or to download an entry form for the next contest, visit AAA.com/petbook.
