Canadian new-vehicle sales up 5.8 per cent in January

Richmond Hill, Ontario – Canadian new-vehicle sales in January rose 5.8 per cent over 2006 levels, with a total of 91,180 units sold in January 2007, according to industry analyst Dennis DesRosiers.

DesRosiers says that virtually all of the growth was in import nameplates; Japanese, European and Korean nameplate manufacturers posted a combined year-over-year increase of 15.1 per cent, outperforming the market by 9.3 points.
