Windsor, Ontario – Workers represented by the Canadian Auto Workers Union (CAW) Local 444 at Integram Seating in Windsor, Ontario have ratified a new three-year contract. The plant makes seats for the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Caravan minivans.
The contract includes $1,500 in signing bonuses spread out over two years and improvements to health insurance benefits, but no wage increases. Workers voted 78 per cent in favour of the agreement.
The contract is the third CAW agreement for the plant, which is owned by Magna. In a statement from the CAW, Local 444 president Ken Lewenza “said that preserving the collective agreement is a victory, considering what the company was demanding of the committee.”
The contract also includes improvements to life insurance, dental and health care benefits, improved layoff and recall language, job postings, seniority languages for skilled trades and leaves of absence.
