Vancouver, British Columbia – Vancouver’s Ballard Power Systems will supply India’s Tata Motors with fuel cell stacks to power zero-emissions buses planned for demonstration in various Indian cities.
Ballard will supply twelve FCvelocity 1100 fuel cell stacks, with delivery planned for 2012 and 2013.
Tata, one of the world’s largest bus manufacturers, displayed the first fuel cell bus built in India at Auto Expo 2012 in New Delhi in January. The bus uses a Ballard fuel cell delivered to Tata in 2011.
“We strive to be leaders in the use of technology, while maintaining very high standards of product quality,” said P.M. Telang, managing director at Tata Motors. “Working with technology companies such as Ballard only strengthens our ability to design and market the wheels of a greener world here in India.”
