Beijing, China – The redesigned Ford Edge SUV will be launched in China by the end of 2010, with vehicles built in the company’s plant in Oakville, Ontario and shipped overseas.

More than 330,000 units of the Edge have been sold since it was introduced four years ago. Its Chinese debut follows the unveiling of the newest iteration in North America recently.

“SUV sales in China continue to grow rapidly, with the segment having grown 61 per cent in 2009 over 2008,” said Nigel Harris, vice-president of marketing, sales and service for Ford Motor China. “With this trend continuing into 2010, we are highly confident the Ford Edge will do well here. It not only offers world-class design, performance and safety, but also advanced technology that our Chinese customers want and expect from Ford.”
