Canadian Autoparts Toyota expands for the sixth time

Delta, British Columbia – Canadian Autoparts Toyota Inc (CAPTIN), a Toyota manufacturing affiliate that engineers and produces aluminum wheels, has announced a $39 million expansion, the sixth in the company’s 22-year history.

As a result of the expansion, wheel capacity at the facility will increase by nearly 17 per cent to 1.68 million units annually, starting in July, 2007. Cumulative investment at CAPTIN will reach $232.2 million.

The company was incorporated in 1983 by Toyota and was the first manufacturing investment by a Japanese automaker in Canada. The plant produces 22 wheel models for Toyota vehicles globally and currently employs approximately 230 people. That number will expand to over 260 following the expansion.
