Canadian authorities uphold Sirius satellite radio ruling
New York, New York – Sirius Satellite Radio has announced that Sirius Canada, its Canadian affiliate, has been given approval by Canada’s federal cabinet to offer nationwide service in Canada. The decision upholds an earlier ruling this year by the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). Sirius’ Canadian partners are the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC) and Standard Radio Inc.
Among the company’s offerings are live coverage of more than 250 professional and college sports teams, including live play-by-play coverage of regular season NHL games and the entire Stanley Cup Playoffs, and all NFL games including the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl. Sirius is the official satellite radio partner of the NHL, NFL, the Wimbledon Championships and Barclay’s English Premier League Soccer. Starting in 2007, Sirius will also become the official satellite radio home of NASCAR.
