California legislators cut Hydrogen Highway budget
Sacramento, California – California state lawmakers have approved just slightly more than 60 per cent of the funds Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger had recommended to begin building the Hydrogen Highway.
The administration had recommended spending US$10.7 million annually over the next five years; the new budget specifies spending an initial US$6.5 million on the project. The approved funding will support up to three demonstration hydrogen fuelling stations in the state. According to the bill, the stations must use renewable energy to produce and dispense hydrogen, or must combine fuel dispensing with electricity generation to power the station.
