Quebec, Quebec – As part of its 79-year-old School Safety Patrol Program, CAA-Quebec has awarded the annual School Safety Patroller of the Year title to sixth-grader Eloise Montmigny, a student at Ecole du Bac in Saint-Lambert, in the Quebec City area.
The 2007-2008 school year marked the eightth year of the contest, with 112 schools participating. Each school selected its top patroller and submitted the child’s name; the overall winner was determined by random draw, as CAA-Quebec said all of the finalists were equally deserving of the honour.
“Once again this year, over 1,100 elementary schools took part in the School Safety Patrol Program, and nearly 31,000 students served as patrollers during the school year,” said Michèle Debroux, CAA-Quebec’s Assistant Manager, Traffic Safety. “Their role is to help make the vicinity of their school a safer place for all.”
