CAA presents 2007 Pyramid Award for Innovations in Safety

Toronto, Ontario – The Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) has presented its CAA Pyramid Award for Innovations in Safety to Mercedes-Benz Canada, for its second-generation PRE-SAFE Preventative Occupant Protection System at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.

The system works together with sensors built into the vehicle to detect evasive and/or erratic manoeuvres, and tailor the car’s safety systems for appropriate immediate action. If the sensors indicate that a crash is imminent, the car will automatically perform a series of several adjustments to minimize the occupant’s chances of injury.
