Thornhill, Ontario – CAA members in South Central Ontario can now take advantage of Bike Assist, which helps bicyclists in much the same way as the membership assists drivers.

Launched for its second year, the program allows CAA South Central Ontario members to call for roadside assistance 24/7 in case of a flat tire, derailed bicycle chain or loose pedal. New for this year is flat tire repair, with CAA drivers outfitted with a tire sealant to repair minor punctures. If the tire cannot be fixed on the spot, the bike and cyclist can be transported to their office, home or nearest bike shop, depending on the membership. Members do not pay extra for the Bike Assist service.

“As gas prices fluctuate, CAA recognizes the transportation needs of our members are changing now more than ever, and Bike Assist is just one more way we have you covered,” said Sheldon Crabb, supervisor contract network for CAA SCO.

CAA SCO is working in tandem with Mobile Bike Shop in the Greater Toronto Area, and for serious repairs, members will receive a discount with MBS.

Also back for a second year is the Bike Squad, a team of four trained cyclists equipped with tools and tire sealant for minor bike repairs. The squad will operate within the Greater Toronto Area on weekends between the Victoria Day and Labour Day long weekends. For more information, visit CAA SCO.
