British Columbia company orders ZAP electric vehicles for retail sale in Canada

Vancouver, British Columbia – New Fuel Systems Inc. of Vancouver, British Columbia has signed an agreement with California electric car company ZAP for the purchase of $1 million worth of ZAP electric vehicles, including cars, trucks, mopeds, scooters and other vehicles. New Fuel Systems plans to open retail locations throughout Canada and showcase electric transportation during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Whistler, B.C.

Officials of the two companies say that the Canadian government’s signing of the Kyoto Protocol, binding it under international law to reduce greenhouse gases, opens up opportunities in Canada for alternative transportation such as the ZAP “zero emission” vehicles.

ZAP has delivered over 100,000 vehicles to consumers in more than 75 countries since 1994; its technologies include energy-efficient gas systems, hydrogen, electric, fuel cell, ethanol, hybrid and other innovative power systems.
