Bridgestone Firestone sponsors Construction Challenge high school team

Mississauga, Ontario – Bridgestone Firestone Off Road Tire Company is sponsoring a high school team for the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) Construction Challenge. The challenge helps students learn more about careers in the construction industry.

The challenge will focus on awareness of construction-related jobs, construction equipment and manufacturing, and infrastructure awareness.

“We find that students bring such insightful and fresh outlooks of the world, which is just what the industry needs,” says Shawn Rasey, executive director, Off Road Tires. “As a manufacturer of tires for heavy equipment, we hope that through our sponsorship, more young adults will learn about the great career opportunities in the construction industry.”

High school teams from across Canada and the U.S. can participate in the challenge to learn more about construction careers, infrastructure, construction equipment, creative problem solving and teamwork. The challenge includes six regional events to be held across the U.S. in January 2008; the winning teams will participate in the finals in Las Vegas in March 2008.
