Mississauga, Ontario – Bridgestone Firestone is announcing a voluntary recall in Canada and the U.S. to replace approximately 135,000 Firestone brand FR380 P235/75R15 tires.
Bridgestone Firestone will also replace approximately 27,000 LeMans Champion SE P235/75R15 tires that were imported into the U.S. but not sold in Canada. The tires covered under this program were manufactured by Bridgestone Firestone de Cost Rica at that company’s San Jose facility.
The subject tires were produced with insufficient tread base gauge, and continued use may lead to vibration and groove cracking. While no property damage or personal injury claims have been reported with respect to these tires, they fail to meet the company’s internal standards and will be replaced free of charge for consumers.
Approximately 850 of the subject tires were sold in Canada; consumers can take their vehicles equipped with these tires to any independent Firestone tire dealer before March 31, 2009 to get the tires replaced. Affected tires are the FR380 tire in size P235/75R15 with a tire DOT serial number that matches any of these numbers stamped on the sidewall: WBHL 380 2306 through and including WBHL 380 3507; or WBUL 380 2306 through and including WBUL 380 3507.
