Bridgestone expands Potenza performance tire lineup
Mississauga, Ontario – Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire is expanding the size offerings for its Bridgestone Potenza RE950 performance radial. The company will add seven new sizes, in response to consumer demand for more all-season, V- and Z-speed rated tires. The RE950 previously was offered only with an H-speed rating.
The new sizes, which will be introduced in Canada as of March 2003, include:
- 225/50R16 92V
- 235/45ZR17 94W
- 205/55R16 91V
- 215/45ZR17 87W
- 245/50R16 97V
- 205/40ZR17 80W
- 225/55R16 95V
(UTQG: 400 AA A: 64,730 km /40,000 miles)
“Consumers have really supported the Potenza RE950 performance tire since its debut in 2001, and we are introducing these new sizes as a result of the current trend in the performance market segment for a broader variety of all-season speed-rated sizes,” said Phil Pacsi, executive director, North American consumer tire brand marketing.
“We think that these new additions to the Potenza RE950 line will satisfy what performance enthusiasts have been asking for.”The Bridgestone Potenza RE950 features a unidirectional tread pattern and, like the rest of the Potenza family, its sidewall sports a strong resemblance to its cousin, a Bridgestone Potenza used in Formula One competition.
It also is made using the company’s exclusive UNI-T AQII technology. UNI-T AQ is the second generation of the technology, with AQ being an acronym for “Advanced Quality.” Tires with UNI-T AQ feature a dual-layer tread and extended performance compound, providing drivers with more consistent wet performance as the tires age and wear.
