Same 6.2-litre supercharged HEMI V8, but more speed and two more doors
UPDATE: Added official images from Chrysler and more detail from announcement release.
It’s now official: the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is the quickest, fastest, most powerful sedan in the world, ever.
Here’s the important information:
– Engine: 6.2-litre HEMI Hellcat V8
– Output: 707 hp, 650 lb-ft of torque
– Transmission: Eight-speed TorqueFlite heavy-duty automatic transmission
– Quarter Mile: 11.0 seconds on street tires, NHRA certified
– 0 to 100 km/h: 3.7 seconds
– 0 to 160 km/h: 13 seconds
– Top Speed: 328 km/h
Now that we have that covered…
Compared to the Challenger Hellcat, the four-door Charger is just a little bit better in almost every measurable way. It’s quicker in the quarter mile, faster top speed, and you can also put a child seat in the back so your children can catch the muscle car bug early.
All this power comes with responsibility, like the ability to bring it to a stop. Chrysler says the Charger will also have the largest front brakes every fitted to a vehicle within one of its brands – 15.4-inches to be exact – the same as the Challenger Hellcat.
Drive modes include Sport, Track, Default, Eco (whaaa?), and Custom. They can be cycled either by pushing the SRT button, in the “SRT & Apps” menu, or within the Performance Pages menu.
Also, the same as the Challenger, the Charger will be delivered with two different key fobs – red and black. The black fob restricts output while the red key unleashes the full 707 hp to the rear of the car and down into the victimized pavement.
If all that wasn’t enough, we can also lay claim to it being Made In Canada.
Production and deliveries are expected in Q1 2015.
