Bookmaker says Vauxhall Vectra has best odds of winning European Car of the Year
St. John’s, Antigua – According to internet bookmakers, Intertops.com, England’s Vauxhall Vectra is the favourite to win European Car of the Year 2003. The Vectra is followed by the Renault Megane and Citroen C3.
The French Peugeot 307 roared into first place as last year’s winner. Italian models have steered their way to first place nine times, but surprisingly, have not been short-listed this year.
For the past 39 years, 58 motoring journalists, representing 22 countries across Europe, have judged the Car of the Year. The judges put the short listed vehicles through their paces, judging them on factors such as performance, safety, comfort, handling and design.
The Car of the Year will be announced on November 19, 2002 and the trophy will be presented to the winning manufacturer in January 2003.
