BMW’s driver training program expands in Canada

Whitby, Ontario – The third season of BMW Driver Training in Canada, which to date has graduated over 3,500 participants, starts in Toronto on March 28th. The program, BMW Group Canada’s initiative to promote active safety on Canadian roads will once again offer it’s full-day courses nationwide in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto. A total of 136 full days of courses are currently scheduled, including 111 Advanced Driver Training (Level 1), and 25 Perfection Driver Training (Level 2) days.

“The response to BMW Driver Training has been phenomenal and has convinced us to expand the program by adding 19 additional days for 2003,” states Manfred Braunl, National Marketing Manager for BMW Group Canada. “The experience gained by participants about vehicle reaction in out of the ordinary situations such as when ABS and stability control systems are activated provides invaluable preparation for everyday driving. Not to mention the big smiles on the faces of participants at the end of the day!”

BMW Advanced Driver Training ($480 plus taxes) is an intensive one-day event, allowing participants the opportunity to challenge their driving skills by pushing a BMW 330i beyond the normal driving experience on a closed circuit under the tutelage of professional driving instructors. Graduates of Level 1 can move on to: BMW Perfection Driver Training ($870 plus taxes), also an intensive, rewarding and entertaining one-day course which builds upon the Level 1 skills and includes exercises in BMW’s highly renowned M3 coupes. Information on Fascination Driver Training (Level 3), a two-day course, will be released shortly.

Launched in Canada in 2001, the successful BMW Driver Training program is based upon the German model, which is now available in 21 countries worldwide. It is Canada’s most attended advanced driver training program, with over 3,500 graduates since 2001. BMW Driver Training is open to all Canadian drivers aged 18 and over who are in possession of a valid, full class drivers license, and individuals do not need to own a BMW to participate. Taught in a fleet BMW’s award winning 330i Sedans and M3 Coupes, the program is led by Chief Instructor Pierre Savoy and a team of Canada’s most experienced driving instruction professionals.
