Ottawa, Ontario – Transport Canada has issued a recall that may affect some diesel BMW X5 vehicles.
2009 BMW X5
Vehicles affected: 590
On certain vehicles equipped with a diesel engine, there could be a malfunction of the fuel filter heater, used for warming the fuel during vehicle operation at low ambient air temperature. This could allow permanent activation of the heater, including in a parked vehicle with the ignition turned off, which could drain the battery. In certain cases the unit could overheat, which could result in a fire. Dealers will replace the fuel filter heater assembly.
