BMW miniatures celebrate milestone anniversaries
Munich, Germany – BMW is celebrating three milestone anniversaries: 50 years since the first BMW Isetta left the production line, 50 years since the BMW 507 was introduced, and 30 years of the first 3 Series. To commemorate them, the company is producing miniature models of all three vehicles.
The Isetta, dubbed the “egg on wheels”, was introduced in 1955 and became so popular that it saved the struggling postwar company, which was in danger of being absorbed by Mercedes-Benz. The 1:18 scale model will be produced in a limited edition of 1,955, with a chrome-plated luggage rack, opening front door and the Munich skyline printed over a blue background.
The 507 was BMW’s racy two-seater; its model will also be released in a limited edition of 1,955, and will feature opening doors and tailgate, a moveable steering wheel and a separate soft top. The 3 Series, introduced in 1975, will feature a correctly finished interior. The miniatures will be available from selected BMW dealers.
