Munich, Germany – BMW has marked the world debut of the new 5 Series sedan in Munich, marking the introduction of the model’s sixth generation.
Worldwide, the 5 Series sedan will make its debut with one eight-cylinder and three six-cylinder gasoline engines, as well as two six-cylinder diesels. All versions are available with BMW’s new eight-speed automatic transmission.
The new model features the longest wheelbase in the segment, short front and rear overhangs, and a coupe-like roofline. Available features include Adaptive Drive with Dynamic Damper Control and Dynamic Drive stability control, along with Integral Active Steering. Driver assistance systems, offered for the first time in the context of BMW ConnectedDrive, include parking assist, surround view, collision warning with brake application, a new speed limit device, lane change warning, lane departure warning, speed limit information, head-up display, BMW Night Vision with pedestrian detection, and a backup camera.
