BMW Canada expands as sales increase

BMW Canada has begun construction of a $6 million expansion to the Company’s corporate headquarters in Whitby, Ontario. The plan includes an expansion of the Parts Distribution Centre, additional office space, and a new Pre-Owned facility.

“At the same time that other automobile manufacturers are announcing lay-offs, BMW Canada will increase its corporate staff by over 15% this year,” explains Hendrik von Kuenheim, President and CEO of BMW Canada Inc. “As our sales continue to grow at such a rapid pace, it is becoming absolutely essential that we hire additional people to accommodate this demand.”

After a record sales year in 2000, BMW Canada’s sales in January were 601 vehicles, a 57% increase over the same month last year. Sales of the X5 SUV were up 188% and the flagship 7 Series was up 69%.
