Whitby, Ontario – BMW Canada has announced that it will add a new 3 Series coupe to its lineup this Fall, powered by the world debut of a straight-six engine with twin turbochargers, high-precision fuel injection and an all-aluminum crankcase.

The 335i Coupe with a 3.0-litre twin turbo will deliver 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque, over a wide range of 1400 to 5000 rpm. Each small, low-inertia turbocharger will feed three cylinders and will propel the coupe from zero to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, with an average fuel economy of 9.5 L/100 km.

The 328i Coupe will also be available with a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder magnesium/aluminum composite block engine with variable valve-lift technology, creating 230 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque. Both versions come with a six-speed manual gearbox or optional six-speed automatic transmission. The 335i coupe with optional six-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and Sport Package will also include wheel-mounted shift paddles.

BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system will be available for the first time on the 3 Series coupe. The coupe will be on sale in Canada in the Fall of 2006; pricing and optional equipment information will be released closer to market launch.
