Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey – BMW has announced substantial enhancements it will make to the 2011 3 Series Coupe and Convertible, including new styling updates and a new engine for 335i models. The 2011 versions will go on sale in the spring of 2010.
The all-new 335i engine, internally named the N55, is essentially the same 3.0-litre block as its predecessor, but benefits from development and refinements that preserve its 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque while making it more responsive, more fuel-efficient, and cleaner-running. The six-speed manual gearbox remains as standard equipment, while the optional six-speed Steptronic automatic now features pull-style shift paddles on the steering wheel.
Exterior styling changes include new headlamps, tail lamps and mirrors, wider grille, and an additional horizontal contour line on the rear air dam. Inside, the coupe and convertible add a new rear centre console.
