BMW and Mini to present new models at Auto China 2006

Munich, Germany – BMW and Mini have announced they will intensify their involvement in the Chinese automobile market with premieres of new models at Auto China 2006, an international automobile trade fair that will be held in Beijing later this month. It is considered the leading trade fair of the Chinese automotive industry.
BMW will premiere the 530Li, 525Li and 523Li, which are long-wheelbase versions of the 5 Series developed exclusively for the Chinese market. The company will also show the new X3, which will be the model’s Asian premiere, Z4 roadsters, 6 Series Convertible, and M5 and M6 coupes. Mini will show the new version of its Mini Cooper, as well as its Mini Concept.
The extended-wheelbase 5 Series models, which are manufactured at the company’s Shenyang plant in northeastern China, are 140 mm longer than the conventional models. The plant also produces the BMW 3 Series for the Chinese market.
BMW reports that it is undergoing dynamic growth in China, which is the second most important market in the world for its 7 Series sedans.
