Big rigs drag race this weekend in B.C.
Mission, British Columbia – The fastest and best-looking heavy-hauling trucks in Western Canada and the U.S. will be lighting up their tires this weekend at Mission Raceway Park in British Columbia for the 4th Annual Pro Trucker Magazine Big Rig Weekend presented by Lucas Oil Products of Canada.
All manner of trucks, from pick-ups up to Big Rigs, will compete with some exhibition trucks running over 100 mph in the quarter mile.
A special match race will pit Canada’s fastest diesel truck, the 1,000-horsepower 1963 Kenworth of Calgary’s Gord Cooper, against America’s fastest one, driven by Wayne Talkington of California. It will be the first time these two have faced-off.
Special trucks that combine a high standard of appearance with everyday working capability are welcome at the Show and Shine. There are classes for antiques and tow trucks, company trucks and log haulers, and prizes for each class.
The Pro Trucker Magazine Big Rig Weekend is this Saturday and Sunday at Mission Raceway Park, located on Highway 11 between the Mission Bridge and Lougheed Highway. Gates open at 9:00 am each day, and admission is only $10.00 either day, including pit pass.
