BCAA to help sponsor 2009 World Police and Fire Games

Burnaby, British Columbia – The British Columbia Automobile Association (BCAA) will announce a major sponsorship package on Friday for the 2009 World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) to be held in B.C. from July 31 to August 9, 2009.

The Games are one of the top three largest sporting events in the world, including the Olympics, attracting more than 14,000 police, firefighters, customs and corrections officers from 70 countries.

The BC 2009 World Police and Fire Games will be held in the Lower
Mainland from July 31 to August 9, 2009 in 46 different venues
from Whistler to Chilliwack. Athletes will compete in 67 sporting
events from traditional Olympic style events such as cycling and
swimming to more unique events such as firefighter stair races
and police pistol combats. Organizers estimate the 10-day games
will contribute up to $100 million to the B.C. economy.
