Automotive industry showcases advanced technology vehicles

Ottawa, Ontario – Representatives of Canada’s auto industry displayed advanced technologies on Parliament Hill, in response to consumer concerns about increasing gasoline prices and air quality, as part of Auto Days 2005.

Among the vehicles displayed were a diesel Mini Cooper, diesel Jeep Liberty, Ford Escape Hybrid, ethanol Chevrolet Impala, Honda Accord Hybrid, Mercedes-Benz E320 diesel and Toyota Highlander Hybrid. A report says that due to vehicle improvements, 37 new cars produce the same amount of regulated emissions as just one car produced in 1987.
