Automobile Magazine names its All-Stars for 2006

Detroit, Michigan – Automobile Magazine has named the BMW 3 Series its “Automobile of the Year” for 2006. The prestigious award was granted by the editors, who said that “BMW has produced a car that is the gold standard for its class, something that all other automakers feel they have to measure up to. No one at BMW has lost sight of why the car is so important and why people love driving it.”

In addition to the top award, Automobile Magazine also announced its All-Stars, which it describes as “absolute knockouts”. For 2006, they were the Porsche Boxster, Subaru Legacy, BMW M5, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Mini Cooper, and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Other awards included Best Technology, awarded to the BMW 3 Series engine; Design of the Year, to the Pontiac Solstice; and Man of the Year to Porsche AG president and CEO Wendelin Wiedeking.
