Audi sponsors k.d. lang/Vancouver Symphony Orchestra concert
Vancouver, British Columbia – Audi is sponsoring Grammy Award-winner k.d. lang in a concert with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at the Orpheum Theatre, Monday and Tuesday, June 7-8 in Vancouver.
k.d. lang will perform an evening of songs spanning her career, including
Constant Craving and Miss Chatelaine. In addition, lang will perform works
from her forthcoming Hymns of the 49th Parallel which is slated for a summer
release. On the new album, lang interprets songs by her favorite Canadian
songwriters – Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Jane Siberry, Ron
Sexsmith, and Bruce Cockburn.
The tour began April 30 and concludes October 17, 2004, in Philadelphia. This tour marks the first time that k.d. lang has performed live with symphony orchestras, and it is the first time she has engaged corporate sponsorship.
“I was honoured to be chosen by Audi as one of eight cultural innovators last year and admire the way Audi is actively involved with performing arts organizations in the U.S. and Canada, supporting symphonies and opera.
