Audi sets all-time sales record worldwide

Ingolstadt, Germany – Audi has announced sales of 463,500 new vehicles worldwide in the first half of 2006, the highest in the company’s history, and a 9.8 per cent increase over the same period in 2005.

Audi also set sales records in Great Britain, Italy, Spain, France and Belgium, but achieved its highest growth rates in the Chinese market; its sales of 38,838 vehicles marked a 94.2 per cent increase over 2005.

“Audi is the market leader by some distance in the Chinese premium segment, and it is the fastest-growing premium brand,” says Ralph Weyler, Board Member for Marketing and Sales at Audi.

The company also reported a 7.3 per cent increase in the U.S. market, with the all-new Q7 luxury SUV selling 1,310 units in its first month on the market. In Canada, the company sold 3,907 Audi vehicles in the first half of 2006, a 16.5 per cent increase over the same period in 2005.
