Ingolstadt, Germany – Audi has announced construction of a new body-manufacturing shop at its site in Ingolstadt, Germany for production of the A3.

The company will invest more than €100 million in the project, which is scheduled to begin in late October. The new facility will encompass some 40,000 square metres.

“The Audi A3 is one of the most coveted models in Audi’s portfolio of products,” said Frank Dreves, board member for production. “The new body-manufacturing shop will pave the way for the continued success of this model.”

Over two million Audi A3 units have been produced at the Ingolstadt plant since 1996.
