Beijing, China – Audi AG has established a fully-owned subsidiary in China, which will work in partnership with its joint venture partner FAW Automotive Group.
“The establishment of the new company represents another milepost in the success story of Audi AG in China and gives us greater proximity to our second home market,” said Audi CEO Rupert Stadler.
The company will be headed by Dietmar Voggenreiter, who has been steering Audi’s operations in China from Ingolstadt, Germany for more than two years. Audi (China) Enterprise Management will work in close partnership with the FAW-VW Audi Sales Division in Changchun. The new company’s activities will also include operating a test centre for infotainment systems in Beijing.
Audi entered the Chinese market in 1988; sales in 2008 were approximately 120,000 vehicles. The company is building an additional assembly facility to build the Audi Q5, with production scheduled to begin from the end of 2009.
