Audi builds 1.5 millionth A3

Ingolstadt, Germany – Audi has announced the 1.5-millionth A3 sold since the compact wagon was launched in 1996. The milestone vehicle, built in Ingolstadt for the U.S. market, is an A3 3.2 Quattro in Misano Red.
The Ingolstadt plant also builds the A4, A4 Avant and the body of the new Audi TT; future models such as the A5 coupe and Q5 SUV are designated to be built at the plant as well.
Currently, more than 800 A3 models leave the plant each day. Almost 127,000 were sold worldwide in the first half of 2006, a growth rate of 16.3 per cent compared with the same period in 2005.
