On certain vehicles, the fuel supply line may contact and rub against the heat shield in the engine compartment, which could cause a fuel leak. Dealers will inspect the fuel line for damage and replace it if necessary, and will also inspect and, as needed, adjust the position of the fuel line and heat shield in order to ensure correct clearance between the two.

On certain vehicles that were originally sold in or are currently operated in areas of heavy road salt during winter months, the fuel tank straps could corrode and fail, allowing the fuel tank to hit the ground. Dealers will install fuel tank straps with improved corrosion protection.
