Aston Martin to auction Asian Highway V8 Vantage

Gaydon, England – A 2005 Aston Martin V8 Vantage coupe that was the first car to cover the entire length of the Asian Highway will be sold at auction by the automaker to raise money for road safety initiatives by UNICEF China. The car will be sold in December.

The car had been prepared and lent by the company to Richard Meredith and Phil Colley, who completed the 49-day journey last August. They travelled through 18 countries, raising awareness and funding for children’s road safety campaigns in developing countries.

The car was earlier featured in Project 30,000 in 2006, where 30 employees drove 30,000 miles (48,280 km) in 30 days to celebrate the company’s 30,000th production vehicle. The car had already accumulated 100,000 miles (160,934 km) before the Asian Highway trip, which added an additional 10,000 miles (16,093 km).
