AMA receives national award for school safety patrol program

Edmonton, Alberta – The Alberta Motor Association (AMA) School Safety Patrol Program has been presented with the 2006 National Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) Best Practice Award. The award was given to AMA for its innovation and contribution to school safety in the areas of community partnerships, standards of practice, new procedures and initiatives such as its Safety Patrol Web site, at www.ama.ab.ca./SchoolPatrol.

The AMA continues to develop the program to ensure that it remains relevant for schools, children and the AMA’s community partners. Each year, 17,000 grade 5 and 6 students and their teachers, from 550 schools across Alberta, dedicate their time and efforts to keep students safe
