Allison Transmission and Aisin Seiki end joint venture

Tokyo, Japan – General Motors’ Allison Transmission and Aisin Seiki Co. Ltd. have announced that their Aisin General Motors Allison (AGMA) joint venture will end on July 31, 2007. The ten-year partnership focused on light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks and buses in the Japanese commercial vehicle market.

Both companies will continue sales and service support to their customer base following the expiration of the joint venture. Aisin will independently begin selling its A500 transmission, currently sold through AGMA, sometime during the third quarter of 2007. Allison will sell its products under a new company, Allison Transmission Japan Co. Ltd.
