Lawrence, Kansas – Allard Motor Works Inc. (AMW) has delivered the company’s first Allard J2X MkII, a commemorative edition of the legendary British J2X competition roadster. It is the first of a number of deliveries scheduled over the next few months.
AMW began vehicle production in early 2008, with the first car going to a new owner in Lawrence, Kansas. “This day is the culmination of years of development and testing that has seen the creation of a modern version of the Allard J2X,” said company president Roger Allard. “This is the vehicle that Sidney Allard would have dreamed of campaigning on the many race circuits that made him a legend. We have targeted our J2X MkII to the owner who is looking for an unmatched wow factor, but wants exclusivity.”
The J2X Mk11 uses a racing chassis, independent suspension, fully-adjustable shocks, rack and pinion steering and nine-inch differential. Engine choices include a 5.7-litre fuel-injected GM Ramjet, or 5.7- or 6.1-litre Chrysler Hemi. The first MkII was ordered with the 6.1-litre. All are hand-built to order and take between 14 and 18 weeks to produce. Prices in Canada and the U.S. start at US$128,500.
