Toronto, Ontario – Honda has announced that the 2007 Acura RL will be available in RL trim for $63,900, and the new RL Elite Package at $69,500.
The new Elite Package adds collision mitigation braking system, adaptive cruise control, active front lighting system, heated and cooled front seats, and genuine curly maple wood interior trim.
The mitigation braking system uses a radar unit mounted behind the grille to monitor the distance and closing rate to the vehicle in front. If the distance or rate exceeds a programmed threshold, the system will sound audio and visual alerts to warn the driver. If the driver does not take action, the system will automatically tug the seatbelt and apply light braking. If the system senses that a collision has become inevitable, the front seatbelts retract tightly and strong braking is automatically applied, lowering the speed of impact and possibly reducing the severity of injury.
The company has also announced that the redesigned 2007 Acura MDX will start at a base price of $52,300. The MDX is built in Alliston, Ontario and goes on sale across Canada on October 17. It features an all-new 3.7-litre V6 with Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system, similar to that of the 2007 Acura RDX, which distributes torque between the front and rear axles, and between the left and right wheels.
