Montreal, Quebec – For 2003, Acura has added a new, close-ratio, short-throw 6-speed manual transmission to the 3.2 Type S model.

All 2003 CL models benefit from styling updates. Revised grille, headlights, taillights, new exhaust finishers and new 6-spoke wheels have been created to exude a more aggressive stance.

While still available with a 5-speed Sequential SportShift automatic, the 2003 3.2CL Type S adds a 6-speed manual transmission as a new option. The base 3.2CL model comes exclusively with the 5-speed Sequential SportShift automatic.

The 6-speed manual transmission delivers smooth, responsive shifting while remaining compact and lightweight. When compared to the CL Type S with a 5-speed automatic, the CL Type S with a 6-speed manual is approximately 29 kg (64 lbs.) lighter, translating to better performance and weight distribution.

The 6-speed manual transmission features a dual-mass flywheel to reduce NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness), multi-cone synchronizers to reduce shift load and a self-adjusting clutch for consistent pedal engagement and extended life.

For added cornering performance, Acura engineers gave all CL Type S models with a 6-speed manual transmission a new Helical limited slip differential. Using a set of gears to monitor wheel spin, the limited slip differential properly delivers torque to the driving wheel with the most traction. The result is a car that allows for more throttle input earlier in turns, exceptional handling balance, reduced understeer and responsive steering feel.

The CL is powered by a 3.2-litre, 24-valve, VTEC V6 aluminum engine. The base CL engine produces 225 horsepower and 216 lb.-ft. of torque through 16-inch wheels. It has a full leather interior, a 6-CD Acura Bose stereo system, High Intensity Discharge headlights, ABS, automatic climate control and power moonroof. Type S models are upgraded to deliver 260 horsepower and 232 lb.-ft. of torque, perforated leather seats and 17-inch wheels with high-performance tires. The CL Type S with manual transmission features two additional hydraulic engine mount dampers to counter engine vibration.
