407 ETR raises $59,887 for United Way

Toronto, Ontario – The Toronto-area electronic toll highway 407 ETR has announced that it and its employees have donated $59,887.05 to the United Way of York Region (Ontario) today. The donation represents fundraising activities conducted in November 2006, and the company’s pledge to donate twice the amount the employees gave.

“Once again our employees have shown how much they value their community and wish to help those in need,” says Antonio de Santiago, President and CEO of 407 ETR. “After winning a United Way Spirit Award in 2005, 407 ETR employees embraced the campaign again this year and increased their participation rate by five per cent. I’m proud of our employees and of the United Way for the work they do in our communities.”

United Way of York Region supports 39 human care agencies, funding over 100 critical programs addressing affordable housing and homelessness, domestic violence and abuse, literacy, mental health and newcomers and immigrants.
