2,500 Minis sold in Canada in first year

Whitby, Ontario – Mini Canada reported that the company has sold 2,500 Cooper and Cooper S models in its first year of sales as of March 22nd, 2003.

“Reintroducing a brand after a twenty year absence in Canada was an exciting challenge,” commented Rob Van Shaik, National Manager, Mini Canada. “It has been tremendously rewarding to witness the Mini capture and hold the interest of the Canadian public…”

In March, 2002, Mini made the first 500 Coopers available to customers in Canada through a web-based “Inline Online” promotion. In January, 2003, the supercharged Mini Cooper S was named 2003 “North American Car of the Year”, and Natural Resources Canada gave it the EnerGuide award for “Most Fuel Efficient” vehicle in its class.

The Cooper and Cooper S are priced at $25,200 and $29,950 respectively.
