New WRX will get CVT transmission option, mild power bump
Due to be officially unveiled at the LA Auto Show next week, images of the new Subaru WRX have been leaked along with some interesting dealer documentation.
The new-for-2015 WRX is expected to ditch the hatchback body style in favour of a sedan-only affair. Output will remain about the same, but be delivered by a 2.0L turbo four instead of a 2.5L turbo mill. The new engine will develop 268 hp versus the outgoing engine’s 265.
Also of note, the new WRX will get an automatic option in the form of Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT. The belt-driven transmission will offer a 45:55 front/rear torque split.
The WRX isn’t the only vehicle making an appearance in LA for Subaru. The Legacy Concept will also get some space on the show floor. However, other than Subaru’s signature all-wheel drive system being equipped, not much is known about the concept at this time.
