Finally, the 2.5-litre engine gets a proper six-speed
Those hungry for a manual transmission in the larger-engined Mazda3 are in luck. The manual-equipped Mazda3 GT, with the 184-hp 2.5-litre SkyActiv-G engine, is arriving now at dealer lots.
Launched for the 2014 model year, the Mazda3 was available with a manual transmission in only the first two trim levels, GX and GS, powered by the 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G four-cylinder engine with 155 hp. The GT was, oddly, an automatic-only affair.
However, those looking at the GT model may be surprised by a now higher starting price of $26,995 for the manual GT model, a $140 increase over the same trim with an automatic transmission from last year.
While the hot Mazdaspeed3 may be a fair bit off, at least enthusiasts have a lukewarm offering available in the Mazda lineup until then.
