Oakville, Ontario – Ford has announced a new factory-applied spray-in bedliner that will be available on the redesigned 2009 F-Series Super Duty pickup trucks. The feature, called Tough Bed, delivers exceptional weather resistance and protection against gouging, scratching, cracking and chipping.

An automated process applies a thin coat of the liner material to the pickup box without compromising cargo space or the ability to install aftermarket tool boxes and tonneau covers.

According to the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), spray-in bedliner installations grew from 27 per cent in 2004 to nearly 34 per cent of all pickup trucks in 2006, and are expected to grow to nearly 40 per cent in 2008. The new Ford system was developed in partnership with PPG Industries and has performed equal to or better than other protective coatings at one-third the thickness in government military blast mitigation testing. The optional bedliner will be offered in June as a factory option.
