2007 Mazda6 sedan and hatchback receive top marks in frontal crash tests
Richmond Hill, Ontario – The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has awarded the 2007 Mazda6 sedan and Mazda6 Sport (four-door hatchback) a five-star Driver and Front-Seat Passenger Frontal Crash Rating and a five-star Rollover Resistance Rating – the highest ratings possible. In a previous test, the Mazda6 Wagon was also awarded five stars.
The five-star Driver and Front-Seat Passenger Frontal Crash Rating indicates that there is a 10-percent or less chance of a serious injury in a 35-mph (56 km/h) frontal crash, while the five-star Rollover Resistance Rating signifies that there is less than a 10-percent risk of rollover in a single-vehicle crash.
The 2007 Mazda6 sedan and Mazda6 Sport also received a four-star Driver- and Rear-Seat Passenger Side Crash Rating. The Mazda6 Wagon also received four stars in a previous side-impact test.
The 2007 Mazda6 and Mazda6 Sport come standard with dual front air bags, dual front side air bags and dual roof-mounted side air curtains on all trim grades. Other passive safety features on both vehicles include impact-absorbing crush zones; three-point seatbelts for all seating positions to make belt-usage easy and comfortable; whiplash-reducing front-seat headrests; and ISOFIX child safety-seat anchors in rear seating positions that include upper tether and lower anchor points.
