2007 Ford Shelby GT500 officially rates 500 horsepower
Dearborn, Michigan – Ford has announced that final certification testing of its 2007 Shelby GT500 shows that it will produce 500 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful factory-built Mustang ever. The results are 25 more horsepower than preliminary estimates.
The GT500 uses a 5.4-litre V8, with a Roots-type supercharger providing nine pounds per square inch of boost. The engine will be built at Ford’s Romeo Engine Plant in Romeo, Michigan; pricing will be announced closer to launch.
