Audi shows 12-cylinder A8 flagship
Detroit, Michigan – For the first time worldwide, Audi revealed its flagship A8 L
6.0 quattro model which features a 450 horsepower twelve cylinder engine. The A8 6.0
L quattro sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, and it accelerates from 0 to
200 in 17.4 seconds. More than 95 percent of the engine’s peak torque is available
between 2,300 and 5,300 rpm.
The A8 L 6.0’s aluminium chassis with air suspension is found only on this model.
By means of the continuously variable damper settings, the adaptive air suspension
reduces body movements, while optimising roadholding and ride comfort. The driver
can choose between four predefined settings, for a suspension characteristic ranging
from overtly sporty to ultra-comfortable.
The second star on the Audi stand in Detroit is the Le Mans quattro sports car
concept which made its North American debut here. The two-seater sports car is
powered by a five-litre, ten-cylinder mid-engine which develops 610 horsepower.
