1979 Porsche wins Targa Newfoundland

St. John’s, Newfoundland – A 1979 Porsche 911 piloted by Glen Clarke and Evan Gamblin took overall honours at the Targa Newfoundland road rally, which wrapped up last week. The seven-day event covers 2,200 km of paved roads on Newfoundland’s eastern side.

Second place overall went to Jud Buchanan and Jim Adams in a 1967 Acadian Canso, while third went to Keith Townsend and Jen Horsey in a 2005 Subaru WRX STI.

In the individual categories, Grand Touring Equipped went to Bruce Terris and Andrew Proudfoot in a 1991 Subaru Legacy Turbo, while Grand Touring Unequipped was won by Alan Townsley and David Fuhrmann in a 2006 Factory Five Cobra. Targa Open Division was won by Jim Kenzie and Brian Bourbonniere in a 2004 John Cooper Works Mini Cooper S; Targa Modern Division was won by Keith Townsend and Jen Horsey in a 2005 Subaru WRX STI; and Targa Classic Division went to Glen Clarke and Evan Gamblin in their 1979 Porsche 911.
